The link you have posted is to a heavily debunked chain e-mail, which has gone through about three separate iterations, all of which are false and none of which required more than the most basic fact-checking find out.

    http://www.snopes.com/info/notes/kagan.asp
    http://www.truthorfiction.com/rumors/k/Kagan-Payback.htm
    http://urbanlegends.about.com/od/barackobama/a/Obama-Kagan-Connection.htm

If you can find any resources that cite evidence to the contrary 9rather than simply repeating the same disinformation) please feel free to post it.

I’m sorry to say that you have fallen for an old e-mail chain letter hoax that is currently in it’s 3rd iteration.

The first version accused snopes of lying about a State Farm real estate agent being told to take down an anti-obama sign.

The second version accused them of either covering up or not finding out that Kagan defended Obama against birther accusations.

The third tacked on the Soros leftist connections.

All are about as truthful as you’d expect chain letters to be, ie, not at all.

The specific version that purports to show snopes hiding/missing the Kagan-Obama connection is discussed here:

    http://www.truthorfiction.com/rumors/k/Kagan-Payback.htm
    http://urbanlegends.about.com/od/barackobama/a/Obama-Kagan-Connection.htm
    http://www.snopes.com/politics/obama/birthers/kagan.asp

To their credit (which is why so many people turn to them as a starting point for most rumors and urban legends) the snopes articles are generally more thorough.

There is nothing wrong with recommending that people check sources and verify what they read or hear. Why not follow that simple advice and do some basic research before propagating baseless accusations?

I’m really not that concerned as I am about Keagan/Obama as I am about Soros/Obama because we all know Soros is Obama’s handler. I’m leaving the post up until someone here can give me proof that Soros isn’t funding Snoops. Sure I can say this is baseless or that is baseless, but unless some has proof proving otherwise all this talk means nothing. Consider this Soros is the majority stock holder of NPR now, so a logical conclusion would be Snoops. He’s taking over every news station he can. We all know Soros is the one that pulls Obama’s strings and over 500 companies, probably many hundred more Soros has a good portion of his stock portfolio in. With that said I am not censoring any e-mail, so feel free to continue to post.

Here is the article with proof that Kaegan was one of the attorneys in Obama’s trial. You can’t deny that. I’m looking right now for Soros funding of snopes.com.\

More on the Snopes aspect of Soros:
      http://www.nytimes.com/2010/04/05/technology/05snopes.html?_r=2
“Less than a year later, Snopes became the family’s full-time job. Advertisements sold by a third-party network cover the $3,000-a-month bandwidth bills, with enough left over for the Mikkelsons to make a living…”

It’s easy to throw mud at snopes.com, but where’s your PROOF. Without proof, you’re just another corporatist-conservative stooge lying about those who challenge right-wing lies.

    Here’s the problem:

It is a lot easier to prove a positive statement than a negative one.

For example, to prove the statement: “I gave money to the Salvation Army,” I can provide a receipt, a cancelled check, etc. If I have evidence, it is a simple thing to offer it, and only true skeptics will continue to doubt (“How do we know you didn’t forge that receipt?”)

On the other hand, to prove the statement: “I have never given money to the Salvation Army,” I must provide, for independent examination, all my financial records for my whole life. Even then there may be legitimate cause for uncertainty because of course, I could have given a cash donation at one of those little kettles one Christmas. Even to those who would like to believe, it’s hard to provide adequate evidence to show something did NOT happen.

With this in mind, I would expect anyone who alleges that Snopes received funding from George Soros (or anyone else, for that matter) to have some evidence or source for this information.

It would be far easier to prove Soros DID fund Snopes than that he did not. To do that, they would have to open 16+ years’ worth of financial records for scrutiny, and to whom? Who would be considered trustworthy enough to vouch for a lack of funding by Soros?

Frankly, the answer to that question is: No one. Why do I say that? Because these rumors have been going around for 4 years now, and people still believe them despite the fact that there is no evidence. I don’t mean no strong evidence. I mean none…nada…not even a shred.

I have spent many hours researching this question, and I have found a series of articles, blog posts, and emails starting in 2008 and continuing through the present (2012). Each set builds on the previous ones, stretching the allegations a little further.

First the Mikkelsons are Jewish, liberal, and Democrats (2008)

Then they receive funding from an undisclosed source. The Democratic Alliance (for billionaires “George Soros, etc.”) gives funding for liberal internet propaganda and asks recipients not to reveal the source of their funds. (2010)

Then George Soros heavily finances Snopes. (2011)

These bold assertions didn’t just lack proof -- not one is backed up by even a single source or a as much as a single quote from an unnamed source. There is simply NO supporting evidence.

I don’t expect things like this to be proven beyond reasonable doubt. That’s for criminal court. But I am truly shocked to see that these allegations are so completely unfounded. They are not even slightly credible.

In light of this, I wouldn’t expect Snopes to waste any time trying to prove such unfounded rumors false. It would be a waste of time anyway. If people believe based on loud, baseless assertions, then no amount of “proof” to the contrary would be acceptable.

If the lack of proof doesn’t cast doubt on Snopes being a Left-wing tool, their track record should. A thorough look at their “findings” shows that they regularly debunk attacks on Republicans as well as Democrats, and they often defend Republicans in their commentary if they think the technical truth is being misused to give an unfairly negative view. If Snopes were Left-wing puppets, I’m afraid they would be a terrible disappointment to their liberal “masters.”

thefloridianguy: It dosn’t really matter to me one way or the other, just remember that almost all online media is controlled by “The Beast”. This is the corporations of the world, that is the end times Beast. Soros is 100% part of the Beast system that is taking shape before our very eyes. I simply put the story out there so everyone could descern for themselves if its the truth or a lie. Again since this is a independent blog I will never take down a post for disagreement. Everyone has the right to their opinions here.

You are right on point floridaguy. And Heidi did an excellent job stating the FACTS here. There is no proof ofther than the Soros obama connection. Soros does not run or own SNOPES. It is run by two Canadians.
